Rice Crispie Chickens

Come on, spring chickens, get into the groove! Squirrels can snack on these delicious rice crispie treats to fuel their fun with a Hey Duggee twist.

NOTE: A grown-up must help with preparation.

iNGREDIENTS (Makes 10):

1. 300g Mini marshmallows
2. 100g Unsalted butter
3. Yellow gel food colouring
4. 175g Rice Crispie cereal

To Decorate:

1. 50g Fondant icing
2. Orange gel food colouring

method:

1. Grease and line a 20cm x 30cm baking tin.
2. Place the marshmallows and butter into a saucepan and heat over a medium heat, stirring until the marshmallows and butter are melted.
3. Drop in yellow gel food colouring and stir until the marshmallow mixture is evenly coloured bright yellow.
4. Measure the rice crispie cereal into a large bowl. Pour over the melted marshmallows and stir together until well combined.
5. Spoon into the baking tin and press the mixture down with the back of a spoon.
6. Pop in the fridge and chill for around half an hour.
7. Tip out onto a chopping board, then cut into evenly-sized triangles.
8. Colour the fondant icing orange, then shape into beaks, eyes and combs.
9. Press fondant pieces onto the triangles to turn them into chickens!
